Luxembourg soldier killed in Kosovo
It was announced today that on Wednesday evening a Luxembourg soldier was killed while stationed in Kosovo. However full details have not been released and are due to be announced soon.
The death is, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence not in connection with the military operation.
The family of the officer has been informed of the tragic incident and are now en route for Kosovo, where on Thursday they aim to clarify the exact circumstances.
More information, will be released by the Luxembourg Department of Defence in a press conference soon.
The 23 soldier contingent from Luxembourg is part of the “KFOR” forces which in turn are part of the NATO mission in Kosovo. Under French command, the troops are stationed in Novo Selo, near Mitrovica.
This station is where Luxembourg soldiers belong to "de reconnaissance” platoon. Their mission is to collect information on the population, and road conditions. This information is then made available to other forces
