Are you interested in writing? Have you written a novel you've never published?  Or does the idea intrigue you?

Well now the  2010 National Literary Competition has launched in Luxembourg and will be devoted to novel writing.  All the details are available on the Ministry of Culture website which is at the bottom of the page, but here's a bit of info to whet your literary appetite:

The competition has actually been running for 30 years now, the idea being to encourage creative writing in the country, and has had several different themes along the way, as previously mentioned, this year it is novel writing.

The contest is open to all authors either of Luxembourg nationality or resident in the Grand Duchy.  The good news is that you can write in English, Luxembourgish, French or German.

The deadline for submitting your novel to the competition is Friday 9th July 2010 and must be totally unpublished and be submitted in printed or typed format.

For some reason, 6 manuscript copies are required and no personal information should be on the manuscript. This is probably because those that judge the manuscripts must not know who wrote them in order to remain impartial.  Instead, you should include your personal details on a separate sheet including your bank details as there is a big cash prize at stake.

First prize will be € 2.500 .-, a second prize of € 1.500 .-, a third prize of € 1250 .- and six runners up prizes of of € 500 .- each.

Manuscripts are to be sent marked “National Literary Competition 2010” to:
