The 26th edition of the award ceremony for the capital's athletes was held in the Grand Théâtre on Tuesday and a total of 88 individual athletes and 42 teams received an award for their performances in the 2008/2009 season.

A total of 221 people from 32 clubs of 22 different sports were honoured for their work. Luxembourg city has a total of 154 sport clubs offering 41 different types of sports.

Eight senior members from 5 different clubs also received distinction for their role as managers and directors of various sports clubs. This edition also honoured athletes in 2 new categories “junior” and “espoir” for promising young athletes.
